Commercial
Nuclear Power and Nuclear Services
EPS has continually displayed
its long-term commitment to nuclear power technology. We are
currently involved in the development of several advanced initiatives
in the nuclear industry such as:
- Power Up-rate
- License Renewal
- Plant Life Extension
- Balance of Plant Equipment Replacement or
Upgrade

POWER UP-RATE
EPS provides high quality and
cost-effective power up-rate engineering services. At this
time EPS is an active participant in Power Up-rate project
for several utilities, leading all electric work and providing
I&C set point calculations. EPS recommends that a high
priority be given to maintaining control of the station design
basis with whatever power up-rate approach is used. It is also
recommended that sufficient detail be included in the analyses
and evaluations of impacted equipment and systems to ensure
that design margin is not unnecessarily sacrificed by overly
conservative, quickly arrived at assumptions and calculations.
The project scope associated
with a power up-rate project is highly dependent upon current
station design and client preferences. By strategically using
all applicable information that is available and stressing
complete planning and early identification of challenges, EPS
has found that up-rate evaluations can be tailored toward an
approach that maintains the design plant basis and allows easy
implementation.
